Stewards is Alexander Wilkinson’s company for three kinds of work: health care for trees and shrubs, fertilization and pesticide programs for lawns, and pest control in and around the home. Mowing is not part of the service. Troy is home base, with Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Novi, Northville, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township on the same list.

Where the work is based
The list is short on purpose. Troy is home base. Northville is included across the county line in Wayne County. A request from outside the list can still be sent, and it does not by itself confirm that Stewards will take the property on.

A southeast Michigan year
These are patterns on properties in this part of Michigan. They are not a diagnosis, a product list, or a schedule of treatments.
Spring
Snow leaves unevenly. Lawns often show snow mold rings, vole runways, and thin spots where shade or traffic won the winter. Crabgrass fills those thin spots once the soil warms. Winter burn on boxwood and rhododendron becomes obvious, and scale, aphids, and the first leaf spots show on crabapples and other ornamentals. Pavement ants start trailing along slabs.
Summer
Heat sorts cool-season lawns quickly. Grub damage, chinch bugs in open dry turf, and diseases such as dollar spot and brown patch are familiar here, especially where clay stays wet underneath and the surface goes hard. Japanese beetles feed on lindens, roses, and grapes. Bagworms show on arborvitae and spruce. Blue spruce that are already declining often look worse in July. Yellowjackets and mosquitoes are the pests people notice most.
Fall
Cool-season lawns grow again, and dandelion, plantain, clover, and creeping Charlie are easy to see. Grub damage and animal digging often show now. Maple leaves sitting on weak turf matter even though Stewards does not run a cleanup route: a lawn program cannot outrun turf that never sees light. Boxelder bugs, Asian lady beetles, brown marmorated stink bugs, and cluster flies gather on sunny walls. Mice start considering garages.
Winter
Salt and slush burn turf edges and evergreens along walks and major roads. Deer browse arborvitae, yew, and hosta where yards meet woods. Voles work under the snow at the base of young trees and shrubs. Indoors, the remaining fall insects and the occasional mouse are what most households still notice. This is a planning season more than a growing one.
